ACTIVITY LEVELS FOR
SOLIVITA TRAVEL CLUB TRIPS
All Solivita Travel Club trips involve activities like walking, standing, climbing steps; getting on & off different modes of transportation; traveling from one site to another independently by walking, using a mobility device like a wheelchair, walker or scooter; managing carry-on luggage. Travelers must be able to perform these minimum activities to participate in any trip.
Accessibility for travelers with disabilities will be described in greater detail in the trip announcement. Travelers with disabilities should be aware that accessibility may be substantially different and less in other countries. It is the responsibility of travelers to review trips & their activity levels & decide if they are able to meet the guidelines for the trip. Travelers with disabilities are encouraged to request whether the Travel can accommodate their needs.
In order to assist travelers with decisions about Travel Club trips, the following guidelines have been developed to describe the level of activity for trips.
ACTIVITY LEVELS
Revised May 11, 2020
Level 1: Minimum
Involves independent boarding & alighting from a motor coach to a port, airport, or venue. For example: cruise from a Florida port by bus or some day trips where there may be periods of standing or walking of less than twenty (20) minutes.
Level 2: Moderate
Getting on & off transportation as many times as needed
Leisurely walking pace with opportunities to rest every twenty (20) minutes
Walking on mostly level ground that is paved. Climbing an occasional flight of stairs or incline.
Occasional standing for thirty (30) minutes in a venue or standing in line to gain entrance to an event/venue. Handling luggage.
Entering & exiting buildings which may include stairs or incline. For example – Day trip with multiple stops or to a zoo, museum, etc. or overnight bus trip.
Level 3: Average
Walking or hiking for up to one (1) hour including hills, inclines, two (2) or more flights of stairs, uneven surfaces that are not paved, with obstacles like rocks, tree roots, water, ice
Standing for more than thirty (30) minutes in a venue or event
Getting on & off transportation as needed independently & at the necessary pace for the activity
Making lodging changes, relocating as necessary
Traversing time zones via airplanes or trains
Airline flights up to 3+ hours. Example – Bus trip in the US.
Level 4: Extensive
Standing for extended periods of time for possibly more than one (1) hour) at a venue or event. Climbing at least 3 flights of stairs. High elevations or high heat. Airline flights 3-8 hours duration, changing planes, and navigating foreign airports**. Example – Cruise or land trip in Europe.
Level 5: Strenuous
Flights longer than 8 hours. Walking for more than one mile over slightly rough terrain like cobblestones. Ability to climb into and out of small boats, funiculars, etc. Strenuous non-voluntary excursions. Example: Land trip to Africa, China or Middle East.
NOTE: AS ACTIVITY LEVELS INCREASE IN DIFFICULTY, ALL ACTIVITIES IN THE PREVIOUS ACTIVITY LEVEL ARE APPLICABLE AS WELL. For example, all activities of Level 2: Moderate would apply to Level 3: Average; all activities of Level 3: Average would apply to Level 4: Extensive.
All activities above 5000 feet altitude or above 90 degrees F (32 degrees C) can result in health issues.
**Cruises, in and of themselves are not considered “Extensive or Strenuous”. HOWEVER, cruises leaving from ports outside the United States may meet those criteria because of longer flights, changing planes, navigating foreign airports, or the mobility levels and requirements of excursions. Optional excursions should NOT be considered when assessing mobility level. Travelers should individually assess the mobility levels and requirements of excursions before final booking.
TRAVELERS SHOULD CONSULT WITH THEIR TRIP COORDINATOR WITH ANY QUESTIONS OR CONCERNS ABOUT ACTIVITY REQUIREMENTS OF ANY TRIP.
